Irish commercial property investment activity accelerated in the second quarter of 2019 with turnover reaching more than €1.2 billion. This marks the strongest quarter since Q4 2016 and brings total turnover for the first half of the year to more than €1.85 billion. The continued growth of mega-deals is evident with five deals worth more than €100 million transacting during the quarter representing 70% of turnover. It is worth noting however that a large proportion of this was attributable to portfolio sales which is a change from last year when all of the mega-deals related to single-asset sales. Residential investments accounted for 48% of turnover this quarter with more than €600 million invested in the sector. Similarly strong levels of investment activity are expected for the remainder of 2019 with €2.2 billion worth of commercial property either on the market or sale agreed as we move into Q3.
